Apostle of Hustle
Apostle of Hustle first took shape after a two-month sojourn in El Barrio Santo Suarez, in Havana, in 2001. This was a very positive experience for the band’s lead, Andrew Whiteman, who is also the lead guitarist of Broken Social Scene.
Having been invigorated by Spanish music and having learned how to play a Cuban guitar called the tres, Whiteman returned to Canada excited to play music that did not exist yet.
Apostle of Hustles' first album Folkloric Feel was released in 2004 and was followed up by National Anthem of Nowhere, which was released in 2007. Their latest album Eats Darkness was released in 2009 and comments on going through hard times and coming out on the other end.
