Forest City Lovers
In the heart of Canada’s largest city, Forest City Lovers — Kat Burns (vocals/guitar/piano), Kyle Donnelly (bass/guitar/vocals), Mika Posen (violin/piano/vocals) and Christian Ingelevics (drums) — strive to tame the urban wilderness and add some melody to the chaos.
Forest City Lovers burst onto Toronto’s music scene in 2006 as a pseudo solo project by young songwriter Kat Burns. The independent release of the 2006 album, The Sun and the Wind solidified Burns’ place in the Toronto music scene and was received well by critics. Released independently and joined on record and live by some talented friends (James Bunton, Andrew Kinoshita of Ohbijou, Andy Magoffin of Two Minute Miracles, Jenny Mitchell of Barmitzvah Brothers), the Sun and the Wind was a breath of fresh air and exposed the talent of an emerging songwriter. Chart called the record “delightfully engaging” while Exclaim proclaimed Burns “enigmatic and subtly inventive.”
